AWANA
"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth."
2 Timothy 2:15 (NASB)
AWANA is a weekly club for children ages 3 through 6th grade with the goal of reaching boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him. Club themes build on one another and include Cubbies for preschool-age children, Sparks for Kindergarten through 2nd grade, and T & T for 3rd through 6th grade. Students meet from 6:10 - 8:10 p.m. on Wednesdays during September - May. The program includes game time, handbook time to learn verses, and council time, where kids learn lessons from God's Word.
Cubbies will see
- As young children, they can and should receive spiritual training
- Home is the primary place for spiritual training
as they follow Cubbie Bear, Luv E. Lamb, Ern E. Elephant, Zip E. Zebra and Gigi Giraffe on a thrilling journey through God's Word in handbook time. Cubbies will also learn through puppets, crafts, and other activities.
Sparks will learn
- Basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, salvation and the Bible
- To recognize a clear and consistent presentation of the gospel message
- The importance of Scripture memory
as they work through an entrance booklet and three handbooks that feature memory verse drills, crafts, activities and review of key doctrine.
T & T, or Truth and Training students, will
- Learn and review approximately 310 verses
- Study dozens of passages from the Old and New Testaments
- Regularly hear and read the gospel message
- Discover the Bible's response to questions like "How does God want me to live my life?" and memorize verses to back up these answers
- Complete missions projects that help them see the world through God's eyes
as they work through an entrance booklet and four handbooks to earn the Timothy Award for faithfulness.
